Redefining Success · For Parents

You just want to get it right for them. Let's find some clarity together.

A three-session pathway programme for parents who want to support their young person through school and beyond, with more calm, more confidence, and less of the quiet worry we all carry.
Why this exists

The worry you carry quietly

Every parent wants their child to be okay, to be happy, to find their way. But somewhere between the report cards, the comparisons, and the pressure that seems to build a little more each year, it's easy to lose sight of what actually helps. You end up worried, and unsure whether the way you're showing up is making things better or quietly adding to the weight.
This programme is a space to step back and think clearly. Not about fixing your child, there's nothing to fix, but about understanding what they really need from you, sorting your own hopes and fears from theirs, and finding a way to support them that brings you both closer rather than adding pressure. It's the permission to exhale, and the clarity to show up the way you want to.
No score defines your child. And no parent has to work this out alone.
How it works

Three sessions, one to one

1

What's really going on, for you and for them

We gently separate the threads: your own hopes, fears and the pressure you may be carrying, from what your young person actually needs. Naming what's yours and what's theirs is where the clarity begins.
2

Seeing your young person clearly

We move from who you hoped they'd be to who they actually are, their strengths, their pressures, and what a good and happy life might really look like for this particular child. No score defines them, so what does?
3

The conversations, and showing up well

We turn that clarity into how you talk with them and support them day to day, especially in the hard moments. You leave with a way of being present that brings you closer, without adding pressure, and a plan for keeping it up.

About us

Dan Steele
Former award-winning assistant principal · EMCC Senior Practitioner accredited coach · Parent
BEd (Primary) (Hons) · MEd (Leadership)
I've spent my career in education, first in the classroom, then in school leadership as an assistant principal, where I was recognised with an education excellence award for outstanding improvement. I've sat with countless young people and their families through the pressures of school, and I've seen up close what actually helps a child thrive, and what quietly gets in the way.
I'm also a parent myself. I know the worry, the second-guessing, and the wish to just get it right for them. That's a big part of why More Than a Score exists: to help families see past the scores and the noise, to the young person in front of them.
What drives me is helping people find clarity they didn't think was there, and in this work, helping you support your child from a place of calm and confidence rather than fear.
Laura Pitt
Secondary teacher · VCE exam supervisor · EMCC Practitioner accredited coach · Parent
BSci · DipEd (Secondary)
Laura has lived and breathed the peaks, pressure and rhythm of high school, as a classroom teacher and as a VCAA exam marker and supervisor. She's seen the system from angles most parents never do, and knows exactly where the pressure on young people comes from.

She's a parent too, and what she loves is creating the space for someone to really think, that moment where a person realises they already know more than they thought, and can take the next step with confidence. For a parent, that clarity changes everything.
Good to know

A few honest answers

Not at all. There's nothing to fix, and no judgement here. Every parent is doing their best with a hard job. This is simply a space to think clearly and find calmer, more confident ways to support your young person.

Both, gently. We spend time understanding your young person clearly, and time sorting your own hopes and worries so they don't get in the way. Supporting them well starts with a bit of clarity for you.

You can begin with a single session and see how it feels, with no obligation to continue. Most parents know quickly whether it's helping.

One to one, at times that suit you. You'll book each session directly into our calendar, and we'll be in touch with everything you need before each one.

Two former educators, accredited coaches, and parents, now behind More Than a Score. Between us we've spent years alongside young people and families through the pressures of school, and we understand it from every side. There's a little more about each of us just above.
